It's been a while since I've done an update!
Things are pretty good around here for the most part. The Springfield house has been a lot of work this past month and that has taken up most of our free time. But, we're close to having all the units rented, so with some luck, that should lessen soon.
We had the first snowfall, which Maya and Ella were very excited about. Since then, it's mostly all melted and just been cold and rainy. I am looking forward to visiting Florida in January.
Maya and Ella's snowmen.
"If you listen carefully to the rain, it sounds like music."
"That was really nice when Timmy brought us all those strawberries and kiwis. I love strawberries and kiwis. I love Timmy, too."
"I'm proud that I saw what they were doing. Now I'm not so scared." (after going down to the basement to watch the people working on our furnace)
"Water is scrumptious!"
"I missed you while I was sleeping." (to me after her nap)
"I have to be gentle with my body, because it's tired."
Brett: "Thank you girls for staying in your room and waiting until the clock turned yellow to come out this morning. I heard someone moving around when it was almost morning, but you still waited."
M: "That was me."
Brett: "Thank you Maya."
M: "I'm not Maya. I'm baby shark."
"I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new day!"
"Do you have short sleeve pants on??" (when she saw me wearing shorts)
"I have two babies, so they came out of my tummy. A long time ago. When it was Friday."
M: "Why do we have to wear seat belts so much?"
Me: <I explain (over the loud music playing in the car) about how the seat belts would protect us if we were in an accident>
M: "What? I couldn't hear your response!"
"I like when the bright touches my body, but not my eyes." (about the sunshine)
M: "You're too prickly!"
Me: "What??"
M: "You're a pinecone."
"When you get old you can have caffeine, it's too spicy for you now." (to her sister)
"Snow is like mashed potatoes because it's so smushy!"
"Mama, why do I have blue eyes? I don't like being the only one in our family with blue eyes."
Quotes from Ella:
"Mama's bed, it's the coziest."
"Dada do you have any thinks of this?" (asking if he had any idea how to fix a broken something)
Me: "You did so well staying in your room. I know that was a lot of waiting, I'm impressed. What did you do while you were waiting?"
E: "I didn't do anything."
Me: "What did you think about while you were waiting?"
E: "I thinked, I want the clock to turn yellow right now!"
"Woah! The leaves are FLYING!" (looking out the window on a very windy afternoon)
"OH, you're a 100 miles sick." (playing doctor with her sister)
"I feel sad because Uncle X is gone and I love him." (when I asked Ella why she was looking so sad just sitting on the couch after Brett had left for his work one morning)
"I don't want to get dressed. I just don't want to wear any clothes at all."
"I dreamed that everyone I loved was at Grandma and Papa's house."
"I'm a baby bulb." (after I asked if she was ready to get up and start the day)
"Now I'm blooming!" (standing up tall on the bed with arms stretched up over her head)
"You can pick me now!" (meaning, please carry me out of bed and to the breakfast table)
Me: "I think we should put the Christmas tree..."
E: "...right in the bedroom where I sleep!"
E: "Why do we live in houses?"
Me: "Why do you think?"
E: "To keep the mosquitos out!"
"I tried to get just one, but all of its friends came down, too! (after getting a napkin from the shelf, and looking at all the rest that fell to the floor)
"There. That looks more like me." (to herself, after taking off her clothes as soon as we got home)
"But I just want to see you, cuz you're all covered with dark!" (after I told her to please not shine her flash light on me while in my bed so early in the morning)
"These sniffles are from my crying." (after being upset)
E: "Mama, you try the eggnog and then you say, "Yuck" and I'll say, "No no don't say that!""
Me: <after taking a sip> "Yuck!"
E: "You shouldn't say yuck."
Me: "Yuck! yuck! yuck! yuck!"
E: "You shouldn't say yuck. If you don't like it, you can say something else."
Me: "What should I say instead?"
E: "You should say, "Blecch!""
Quotes from some or all of us:
M: "Can I have some more butter for my Brussels sprouts?"
E: "Butter! Butter! Butter! Can I have some more butter?"
Me: "For what?"
E: "For Ella!"
And finally, a few pictures from the past month:
Planting garlic!
The lion and her guitar.
Playing outside and sharing boots.
Play-doh time.
Speaking of play-doh, we made our own! It was easy and worked out really well.
A picnic of pie with Aunt Anne.
One morning, we went out to the garden and Maya and Ella dug up a bunch of carrots, washed them in the sink all by themselves, and then ate them all up.
Ella took this photo of Brett, just back inside from his late November dip in the river.
Yellow leaves in the river.
Two Cedar Waxwings I saw while on a walk at the nature trail in Hadley.
Selena and Ella.
Maya eats up her ice cream a lot faster than her sister. Asking Ella if she can share what is left of hers hasn't worked, but Maya has figured out that if she says to her sister, "I'm a baby bird!" and opens her mouth, Ella will delightedly feed her spoonfuls of ice cream.
Peppa Pig is the new favorite thing to watch around here. The girls are obsessed with it.
Ella the ballerina.
She can really twirl!
I think ballet lessons may be in her future.
While Ella was twirling, Maya dressed all these animals.
Bread-making helpers.
Story time for little bear.
Singing and playing guitar together. That cardboard tube is their microphone.
Coloring the color sheets they got at the doctor's office when we got flu shots.
Ella the elephant.
The very cute elephant.
The first little bit of snow.
Making snowballs with Dada.
Tricycle ride around the block!

I love all the quotes! :)
